Carli's 1994-2013 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 coils offer 10" of suspension travel and a smooth ride on and off the pavement. Carli offers multiple unique spring rates for these trucks, covering 1994-2002, 2003-2009, and 2010-2012 four wheel drive trucks, as well as variants for gas and diesel. These coils are built to the highest standard, and are shot peened and preset to eliminate sag over time. They are built and powder coated in the USA like all Carli products.
1994-2009 short arm Hemi and Diesel applications use a progressive rate coil to maximize ride with short arm suspension systems.
If you plan to run Carli or other brand long arms on a 2003-2009 Diesel, you want to select the linear rate 2010-2012 Diesel coils as the linear spring rate is optimized to a long arm application.
If you own a 2010-2012 Diesel with long or short arms, select the 10-12 coil.
Linear vs Progressive Coils:
There is a lot of debate in the industry over which makes more sense. The truth is that it all comes down to the use application, rather than a blanket statement. For short arm applications a progressive rate allows the suspension to be more sensitive to small chatter and overcome the steep arm angle early in the travel. As you move deeper into the suspension and the arm angle flattens, leverage on the coil increases which is when the multi rate coil kicks in to maintain support. If you use a linear rate coil on a short arm truck, you end up sacrificing support later in the travel stroke, and trying to make up for that with shock tuning.
For long arm applications where the arm angle remains relatively flat and leverage remains relatively constant, a linear rate coil makes the most sense, as you want to maintain a more constant spring rate without having to work to minimize the impact of arm geometry change. Long story short, we like to use progressive rate coils for short arms, and linear rate for long arms.
The Carli 10-13 coils are linear, while the 94-02 and 03-09 coils are progressive. With that in mind, choose the 10-13 Diesel variant if you want a linear rate coil or have a 03-09 long arm truck, 03-09 diesel if you want a progressive rate coil for a short arm truck, and 94-02 or 03-09 Hemi if you have a 2nd gen diesel or 3rd gen Hemi as they are a lighter spring rate for the lighter trucks.
These coils will all bolt in to any 4wd 1994-2013 Ram, so you can also choose based on spring rate with the Hemi/2nd gen coils being the softest. Please note that if you go off menu with a Hemi coil in a diesel, you will get less than the stated lift height.
